| At SDHC, we believe a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program is critical to the recovery of patients who have recently undergone changes in the status of their cardiovascular system. (This includes changes caused by chest pain, heart attack, coronary intervention or heart surgery.) Our physicians recommend an approach that treats the whole person; one that not only returns the patient to peak physical conditioning, but also promotes a healthy lifestyle that teaches, encourages and supports. Exercise is central to our approach: it is both a heart-saver and a lifesaver. Exercise physiologists, technicians and ACLS-certified registered nurses trained in cardiac care and a cardiologist are on the premises for the duration of each patient’s exercise session. Education also plays an important role in the cardiac rehabilitation experience. Individual and formal classes teach patients to reduce stress, to plan and prepare nutritious and tasty meals and to change old habits. In short, they teach those skills necessary to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle. However, the SDHC Cardiac Rehabilitation experience is more than programs and facilities, more than exercise and education. It is expertise and excellence. It is people and support. It is new life and new hope. |
